Missing windows and roof on a building at Donja Nakovana

Donja Nakovana is one of two villages in the area which have been twice abandoned by locals.

The village was burned down in WW2 by an Italian Fascist expedition of 7500 soldiers. After the war, the village was rebuilt but it was never the same and was struck by poverty after the collapse of Yugoslavia.
