Tourists on Dubrovnik's porporela

Porporela is simply a breakwater from the St John Fortress out to the lighthouse (to protect the old harbour) and is a popular place for a stroll or for people to rest along the benches. Sunbathers often cover the rocks on the far side, occasionally dipping into the sea.

Fortification on Dubrovnik's city wall

The main wall on the landside is 13-20 feet thick, and, at certain locations, the walls reach up to an impressive 80 feet in height. Sea facing walls of Dubrovnik are 5–16 feet thick, with the purpose of defending the city from sea-based attacks.
